I recently wrote a post about the pros of buying a guitar online. Here I will outline the cons of doing so. While the pros do outnumber the cons of buying a guitar online, it' still important ti consider both.

No Hands-On Examination

The major benefit of buying a guitar at a physical music store is that you get to physically examine the product before you buy it. This is something you should always do if you're given the opportunity. You can feel the shape, examine the quality, and typically test out your guitar before you buy it. Many people don't buy a guitar online simple because of this.

While this is certainly a con of buying a guitar online, there are ways around this. You can test out a similar model of the guitar at a store and buy the same model online. Most online guitar retailers also allow you to return the product you buy within a certain number of days if you're not satisfied.

Shipping

Sometimes you have to pay for shipping online when you buy a music product. While this is true, some retailers offer free or discounted shipping - and you can often save on taxes if you buy the guitar from out of state.
